The Women in Trucking Association (WIT) recently recognized Leonard’s Express as a 2023 Top Company for Women to Work For in Transportation.
The organization highlighted Leonard’s in its Redefining the Road magazine.
“We’re proud to be recognized by Women in Trucking for our commitment to supporting women in the workforce,” Ken Johnson, executive chairman who co-owns Leonard’s with brothers Kyle (CEO) and Kevin (president and COO), said in a news release. “Leonard’s was co-founded by our mother Patricia Johnson, who was a pioneer in the industry and an equal partner in the company’s growth. Our culture of inclusivity is a continuation of her legacy.
“Women will always play a vital role in our success.”
Characteristics that distinguish companies on the list include corporate cultures that foster gender diversity, competitive compensation and benefits, flexible hours and work requirements, professional development opportunities, and career advancement. Selection is a two-step process. First, nominations are received and reviewed to ensure they meet a minimum threshold of qualifications. Then industry individuals vote for companies they believe deserve the honor. WIT received more than 27,000 votes for the final companies on the list.
Earlier this year, WIT recognized Katie Griffin, Leonard’s director of fleet safety, as a Top Woman to Watch in Transportation, and Leonard’s driver Ann McFarland was one of two finalists for WIT’s Driver of the Year award.
Recipients of the Top Company for Women in Transportation award will be recognized Nov. 5 at the WIT Accelerate! Conference & Expo in Dallas.
