Leonard’s Express plans to install Isaac Instruments’ electronic logging devices (ELDs) and “driver-centric” telematics across its entire fleet.
The refrigerated transportation specialist headquartered in Farmington, New York, operates 640 trucks and 1,100 trailers, and moves more than 15,000 shipments per month across its temperature-controlled, truckload, and intermodal divisions.
“Our engagement from the beginning with Isaac has been top notch,” Chris DeMillo, Leonard’s vice president of IT, said in a news release. “We have been extremely impressed with the attention and service we’ve received from the entire Isaac team.
“They are genuine, caring, and as passionate about what they do as we are at Leonard’s Express.”
According to the release, the award-winning company concluded its existing technology was “stagnant,” so it needed a new telematics partner to better serve its company drivers, and 170 owner-operators. “We look at this in-cab experience as a competitive advantage,” DeMillo said. “We’ve never had a workflow solution like this to help guide our drivers through their days. We are excited to deliver that to them.”
Isaac’s ability to integrate its technology with Leonard’s’ TMW transportation management system (TMS) was a deciding factor in their partnership, the companies said.
“We saw how Isaac is in lockstep with the TMS system,” DeMillo said. “There is a comfort level with the work the Isaac integration team is doing. We see the opportunities for the platform to extend beyond the TMS in order to connect other critical systems, which increase the value add in a connected experience for both our drivers and back office.”
Leonard’s hosted Isaac in December in New York for a kickoff event in which members of Isaac’s team aided with implementation and training.
The new platform is expected to be rolled out across the entire fleet early this year.
“We’re quite pleased that Leonard’s Express has selected Isaac as its technology partner,” said Jacques DeLarochelliere, Isaac CEO and co-founder. “We look forward to working with such a well-respected trucking fleet to improve the experience for drivers and boost overall productivity.”
