Randall Manufacturing, a Chicago IL-based manufacturer of temperature zoning products for the transportation and warehouse industries, has introduced the GREEN line of portable insulating bulkheads. Designed to meet the needs of refrigerated transporters, Randall Manufacturing’s GREEN bulkheads reduce solid landfill waste, use reclaimed material, and provide high thermal properties.
The GREEN bulkhead line consists of two models: the BH1500 and the flagship BH2000 portable bulkheads. The BH1500 and BH2000, manufactured with a 3-inch closed-cell foam, have set an industry standard for superior temperature zoning for more than 11 years, says the company. Now, the BH1500 and BH2000 will also be available with a 100% polyisocyanurate (commonly known as “polyiso”) foam core which has been reclaimed from the roofing material of institutional buildings and spared from landfills.
According to the Polyisocyanurate Insulation Manufacturers Association (PIMA), polyiso is cited by the US Environmental Protection Agency for its responsible impact on the environment. In addition, polyiso is known for its excellent compressive strength, recycled content, and zero ozone depletion potential.
These are critical features, said Fred Jevaney, president of Randall Manufacturing, “not only from an environmental perspective, but also from a performance perspective. It differentiates our bulkheads from the rest in the industry as the R-value is approximately 30% higher than that of the average bulkhead in the market. We have created a new bulkhead standard by increasing the insulation performance and reducing solid landfill waste.”
The GREEN bulkhead line has been engineered to meet the needs of a wide variety of users. Both bulkheads share the polyiso foam core, yet offer alternative skid guards, perimeter seals, and exterior skin options.
