Frommelt Products Corporation, a division of Rite-Hite Corp, has introduced the Insulator Dock Seal with Light-blocking Header. This durable dock seal has a header that effectively seals small light gaps caused by trailer protrusions.
Motivated by stricter regulations and tougher inspections, companies are seeking dock seals that can block small gaps of daylight that indicate openings for dust, insects, and other contaminants to enter a facility. The seal at the top of a trailer provided by a dock seal header can be broken by door latches and other protrusions at the top rear of the trailer, resulting in air gaps.
The Insulator’s proprietary light-blocking header design features rows of layered, horizontal pleats that conform around these protrusions as the trailer backs in. This improves sealing efficiency and minimizes daylight that causes red flags during inspections.
The Insulator Dock Seal design also has exclusive features that protect against extreme wear and tear, lengthening the life of the seal. For example, all trailer and forklift contact surfaces are reinforced with high-strength Durathon fabric over a flexible vinyl base fabric for extreme wear resistance. Durathon’s pebble-grained coating creates a friction-resistant surface that trailers slide against rather than abrade.
Corners of the Insulator are heavily reinforced with layers of Durathon fabric and flexible high-molecular weight polyethylene (HMWPE) sheeting for resistance to damage. These components are attached with industrial Velcro for easy replacement and low-cost maintenance.
In addition, the Insulator head pad’s backerless construction frees it from the wall, allowing it to move with the trailer to reduce friction and wear. It also pivots to prevent yard jockey “pop-off.”
