Intelsius, a manufacturer and distributor of environmentally safe, temperature-controlled, and regulatory-compliant packaging systems, has added two new Category A shipping systems to its line of Biotherm packaging systems.
Biotherm Category A shipping systems are designed to ensure full compliance with IATA, ADR, and 49 CFR (Department of Transportation) for transport of infectious substances. In order to become certified, the complete system was put through a number of stress tests, including puncture tests, pressure tests, rain exposure, and drop tests from a height of nine meters.
The new Biotherm 7 and Biotherm 14 systems were developed using a patent-pending process that is designed to optimize shipping volume and minimize freight costs. This innovative system is also pre-qualified to maintain sample integrity during dry ice shipments for up to 240 hours.
Biotherm has an ergonomic design that features sturdy carry handles to enable careful handling throughout the cold chain shipping process. The design helps users reduce associated risk of lifting heavy, bulky boxes. In addition, the shippers have a tongue-and-groove lid that provides quick assembly while ensuring optimal performance.
The Biotherm system comes standard with Pathopouch, a leakproof secondary container that was tested to ensure optimal protection for a range of samples, including blood tubes, specimen containers, swabs, and medical devices. Designed to comply with the latest IATA guidelines, the absorbent pouch has a simple closure system and easy-tear opening.
