TruStar Energy opens new CNG fueling stations

TruStar Energy, provider of compressed natural gas (CNG) fueling infrastructure, has announced the opening of CNG Energy LLC’s public natural gas fueling station in Liberal KS, as well as a TruStar-branded public CNG fueling station in Tulsa OK.

Earlier in 2015, TruStar was contracted to build the Kansas station with the specific goal of supporting the need for CNG fuel for fleets operating out of Liberal, the surrounding southwest Kansas area, and Oklahoma Panhandle. TruStar then worked with Black Hills Energy to make the station a reality.

Rocky Ormiston, CNG Energy’s managing member, understands the benefits of domestic natural gas and believes the time was now for developing a public station in Liberal.

“Two things that we immediately appreciated with natural gas were the cost per MCF and its price stability over time,” said Ormiston. “You can do a lot of projections as far as budgeting is concerned without the threat of price spikes. We’re also using a domestic fuel source instead of something coming in on a tanker from overseas.”

The station features two covered and lighted fueling islands that can accommodate both large commercial vehicles—such as the 12 tractors owned by CNG Energy—as well as smaller private vehicles.

Ormiston said the station will be open 24/7 and accepts most major credit cards and commercial fleet fueling cards.

The public CNG fueling station in Tulsa is in a heavy truck traffic corridor. This 24/7 station at 5011 South Vandalia Avenue has two traffic lanes and two fast-fill fueling pumps, providing access for commercial vehicles and private CNG-powered consumer vehicles. It is supplied by natural gas from Apache Corporation and accepts commercial fuel cards such as Comdata or Fuelman as well as all major credit cards.

TruStar is building dozens of CNG stations across the United States and opened its first company-branded public fueling station in Orlando FL in July. By expanding America’s network of CNG fueling stations, the firm is helping usher in a new era of economic strength, lower carbon emissions, and increased energy security, while keeping jobs and revenues in the United States.
