Cryogenic valves need little maintenance

Jan. 21, 2019
Discover the advantages of 5000 Series cryogenic valves from CPC-Cryolab.

CPC-Cryolab, a CIRCOR International brand, offers its 5000 Series cryogenic valves, ideal for use in ultra-cold cryogenic storage tanks, transportation trailers, and vacuum-jacketed and non-jacketed piping systems.

The 5000 Series valves feature bellow-sealed and non-bellows-sealed designs, redundant packaging seals, and all stainless-steel construction. According to the company, these are the most common and reliable LHe valves used on ISO helium containers worldwide.

Providing low heat leak and worry-free performance, these valves need the least maintenance of any LHe valve currently in use. They feature top-entry PCTFE soft-seated plug assemblies with zero leakage across the seat, self-centering plug assemblies and Chevron-style stem packing. The valves operate under an extreme range of temperatures ranging from  –452 to +300 degrees Fahrenheit.

In the 1960s, CPC-Cryolab developed its line of cryogenic valves specifically to support America’s quest to send a man to the moon. Its highly engineered cryogenic valves have been used successfully in both liquid hydrogen and liquid helium applications throughout the US space program.

The 5000 Series has its roots in these specially engineered cryogenic labs and has evolved into a standard line of vacuum insulated auto- and manually operated valves, available in one-half-inch through three-inch standard pipe sizes.
