Insulation blankets for engine exhaust designed to conserve energy
Shannon Global Energy Solutions (Shannon) has developed a reusable engine exhaust reusable insulation system, the Shannon Blankets for transit authorities, university bus systems, logistics companies and OEMs.
According to the company, the Shannon Blankets (design HT1300AGM) withstand vibration, while insulating complex geometry and hot surfaces typically left untreated such as exhaust lines, piping, bellows expansion joints and catalytic converters. Insulation applied to these surfaces improves engine efficiency, reduces emissions, lowers surface and ambient temperature, and improves equipment performance, the company added.
Shannon engineers and manufactures products such as blanket insulation, insulation jackets and insulation covers. For more than 30 years, Shannon has developed insulation solutions for energy conservation, thermal efficiency, noise reduction and safety.
“Insulation that is removable, reusable and designed to meet ASTM, UL and ISO testing is the key,” noted Frank Kovacs, Shannon president. “If a mechanic can’t easily replace a blanket after servicing a component, then it ends up on the garage floor. Our CAD-CNC-designed blankets make sure that doesn’t happen.”
