SAN ANTONIO—TransPro Freight Systems safety compliance director Michael Frolick took home the Truckload Carriers Association's 2023 Safety Professional of the Year Award here this week.
"We at KTG, and specifically TransPro, are extremely proud of Mike and for his accomplishment," Kriska Transportation Group's President and CEO Mark Seymour said in a TCA statement released during the trucking association's 42nd-annual Safety & Security Meeting here.

"Mike epitomizes what this recognition highlights. His loyalty and commitment to the craft has been unwavering for years. We consider ourselves winners, too, as we have Mike on our team."
TransPro is a subsidiary of Kriska, or KTG, No. 434 on the FleetOwner 500: Top For-Hire Fleets of 2023. Canada-based TransPro was a 2019 TCA Fleet Safety Award winner and was named a Best Fleet to Drive For in 2020. It was elevated to the Best Fleets to Drive For Hall of Fame this year for the first time. Milton, Ontario-based TransPro is a cross-border specialist in truckload and less-than-truck freight-hauling services, according to the fleet's website.
According to TCA, the Safety Professional of the Year Award is "bestowed upon a trucking industry professional whose actions and achievements have made a profound contribution to enhancing safety on North America's highways."
TCA President Jim Ward President added on June 13: "TCA is delighted that Michael Frolick is our 2023 Safety Professional of the Year. He represents exactly what safety in trucking should be—well-rounded and forward-thinking approaches to driver training and coaching, equipped with a reservoir of experience and insight. This award is a great reminder to thank all of our industry's safety professionals, like Michael, who work tirelessly to protect the well-being of drivers on our roadways."

A TCA release states that Frolick beganworking on the docks part-time while in high school in his teenage years. When he turned 19, he obtained his Class A CDL and drove for 22 years in both Canada and the U.S., amassing 1.5 million collision-free, over-the-road miles. Near the end of his driving career, he started helping maintain logbooks and do road evaluations and forklift training with his company. Before he left, Frolick became the Toronto Regional Truck Driving Grand Champion.
From there, Frolick became the safety manager for a local cartage company before moving on to TransPro Freight Systems, where he has been director of safety and compliance for the last 16 years. He has played critical roles in numerous councils and committees over the years and is on the board of directors executive committee for the Infrastructure Health & Safety Association.
