The Commercial Vehicle Safety Alliance (CVSA) officially appointed Collin Mooney as its new executive director after serving as the group’s acting executive following the departure of Steven Keppler.
Mooney has been with CVSA for the past 13 years serving as the group’s executive director since 2010 and also as its acting director since September of last year.
A 27-year transportation safety veteran, Mooney’s public safety career began in Canada with the Saskatchewan Highway Transport Patrol working in various locations within the province, along with a decade-long stint as a transport officer with the Commercial Vehicle Enforcement Branch of Alberta Transportation, now the Alberta Justice and Solicitor General office.
“As a former transport officer and CVSA-certified inspector, I understand the many challenges our roadside inspectors’ face, each and every day, in order to ensure the safe and efficient movement of people and commerce throughout North America," he said in a statement.
"I'm excited about the opportunity to continue with my dedicated service of promoting commercial motor vehicle safety, by working collaboratively with member jurisdictions, all levels of government, and the various industry stakeholders to lead the alliance into the future," Mooney added.
