Sun modernizes operations with logistics software

CLI freight-management software improves processes, enabling the carrier to grow its first- and last-mile operations.

Carrier Logistics Inc. (CLI), providers of freight-management software for less-than-truckload fleets, announced that Maspeth, New York-based Sun Logistics has implemented CLI’s FACTS solution to meet the first- and last-mile needs of carriers and shippers.

“We handle first- and last-mile freight in two of the hardest markets in the U.S., New York City and Miami,” said Nathaniel Klein, COO of Sun Logistics. “Our legacy system was not able to help us modernize our processes and grow as a leader in first- and last-mile logistics. After an extensive research and review process, we chose CLI because they understand the opportunities we wanted to address, and their FACTS software is highly functional for the future state of our business.”

At Sun Logistics, a team led by Klein that included IT and other leaders throughout the organization reviewed numerous transportation management systems. Their goal was to replace existing processes and systems that required significant amounts of paperwork, labor, and time with an end-to-end solution. CLI FACTS was ultimately chosen as the best fit from among 10 software solutions, according to a CLI release.

Sun Logistics is using a hosted version of FACTS across its operations in New York and Florida for dispatch and driver management and a full back-office suite of capabilities. Its 150 drivers use tablets connected to the software via an integration enabled by CLI. At its 64-door service center in New York City and 62-door service center in Miami CLI’s Dock Management System is in use along with fully integrated handheld scanners.

“We are very pleased that Sun Logistics is realizing the value of its investment in FACTS so quickly as they work to meet the freight pick-up and delivery needs of their customers,” said Ben Wiesen, president of CLI. “Looking forward, we will be providing ongoing updates and improvements that will further facilitate their ability to grow by making effective and predictive data-driven decisions.”
