Eaton adds Cummins powertrain fault codes to IntelliConnect remote diagnostics

May 23, 2023
Eaton's remote diagnostics software can now interface with Cummins' powertrains as well as automated transmissions from the companies' joint venture, Eaton Cummins Automated Transmission Technologies.

Intelligent power management company Eaton has enabled its IntelliConnect remote diagnostic technology to collect and analyze Cummins powertrain fault codes in addition to codes from Eaton Cummins automated transmissions.

“Fleets using Cummins Integrated Power—comprised of a Cummins engine and an Eaton Cummins automated transmission—can now use IntelliConnect to see fault codes for the entire powertrain, allowing them to determine the needed repairs more quickly,” said Bobby Robinette, manager of digital service solutions at Eaton. “Beyond just reading transmission and engine codes, our combined vehicle systems experts create comprehensive fault code action plans that provide the recommended course of action.”

IntelliConnect remote diagnostics provides near real-time monitoring of vehicle fault codes, prioritizes critical events, and provides accurate and comprehensive action plans by Eaton technical experts that reduce unplanned downtime and enable a quicker diagnosis of needed repairs, according to a company press release. IntelliConnect allows the operator to determine whether a vehicle should be serviced immediately or if there is time to schedule maintenance for a future date. Additionally, IntelliConnect offers suggested fixes so operators can have the needed parts ready rather than have a vehicle sit in the shop waiting on parts.

“IntelliConnect helps fleets make more informed decisions on repairs and service,” Robinette said. “Our solution helps them manage their downtime so they can turn unplanned maintenance into planned maintenance.”

Eaton’s IntelliConnect with Cummins engine diagnostic capability is now available in North America, Central America, and South America.
