ALK Technologies and the U.S. Dept. of Defense (DoD) have released version 25.1 of the Defense Table of Official Distances (DTOD), the official standard for calculating land distances for all DoD household goods, DoD freight, and travel reimbursements for military personnel.
DTOD, which is deployed over the Internet using ALK’s PC*Miler Web Services application, is used by the Surface Deployment and Distribution Command (SDDC), which serves as the liaison between the U.S. DoD and commercial carriers, and the General Services Administration (GSA), which provides transportation purchasing services to most non-defense U.S. government agencies.
PC*MILER 25.1 and PC*MILER|Worldwide 25.1 are the commercial versions of the DTOD.
DTOD 25.1 generates routes, distances, transit times, maps, and driving directions over the entire international highway network, providing seamless coverage of 224 countries worldwide.
In conjunction with the release of DTOD 25.1, ALK announced the release of PC*MILER Web Services 25.1 that offers updated worldwide coverage to Standard-Worldwide and Premium-Worldwide users.
New PC*MILER|Worldwide features and enhancements available in DTOD 25.1 include 29 languages to choose from for viewing reports; a new time-based routing feature for more precise calculation of ETA/ETD, taking time zones into consideration; a new worldwide time zone display option; improved custom place importing that now accepts postal code, city, state and address data in addition to lat/longs in all regions; and the addition of international border crossing points around the world.
