OTC has introduced its Ford Portable Diagnostic Software (PDS) advanced kit

OTC has introduced its Ford Portable Diagnostic Software (PDS) advanced kit, which includes a hand-held Pocket PC, PDS software and a Vehicle Communication Module (VCM) device that supports diagnostic services for most 1996 to 2008 Ford, Lincoln, and Mercury models with a 16-pin DLC connector, the company said.

“It’s a complete tool out of the box—with no additional equipment purchases required to operate—offered exclusively through OTC, the PDS kit packs the power of Ford’s factory scan tool into a pocket size package,” said Andy Forsberg, SPX Service Solutions product manager of electronics. “The Pocket PC gives technicians more flexibility and portability in the shop and for on-the-road testing and also offers technicians the option of using their own PC or laptop in place of the Pocket PC.”

According to OTC, the kit can be programmed to execute specific tests or as a component in a test system, offering aftermarket companies the same features as a Ford dealer would have. It also includes a one-year software license giving the user access to OEM diagnostic software updates at no additional cost, as well as access to live technical support.
