OTC, an SPX brand, has announced the launch of a new service, PegisysCONNECT Wireless Solutions. The new service, built on the capabilities of the Pegisys wireless platform introduced in 2008, is designed to help Pegisys users explore the potential of wireless diagnostics and maximize productivity with their diagnostic system.

"OTC has teamed up with Best Buy for Business to provide a wireless hardware and installation solution for the repair shop,” said Ed Lipscomb, senior product manager, diagnostic systems for OTC. “This service includes a wireless router, on-site installation--- including firewall--- and assistance in configuring a shop's diagnostic handset/VCI (Vehicle Communications Interface) to the wireless network to create a secure, reliable wireless network within the shop's service area.

"The value of Wi-Fi is very evident in the automotive aftermarket, where statistics show that 88 percent of technicians are using the internet in the shop for the conduct of daily business," he noted. Installation of the new system will be provided locally through one of more than 700 Best Buy locations throughout the U.S.
