The Iteris lane departure warning (LDW) system is now being offered with a new data capturing option called “Safety Direct.” The system will record and analyze lane departure warnings in real time before relaying that information directly to fleet managers through the truck’s existing communications system.
Abbas Mohaddes, Iteris president & CEO, said the ability to collect and analyze LDW data in real-time is a major step towards assisting fleet safety managers in their efforts to proactively manage large truck safety initiatives while creating an opportunity to initiate contact with drivers prior to an accident, potentially saving lives and significant expense. “It’s a logical next step for our LDW technology,” he added.
Iteris said it has sold over 50,000 LDW systems to the heavy truck market worldwide, with 56 fleets-- totaling 30,000 trucks – in the U.S. currently using Iteris’ LDW system. Another 79 fleets, operating some 159,000 trucks, are conducting field tests with its technology.
