PeopleNet has announced the launch of a new services API interface, dubbed “g3 Services,” which is designed to permit “virtually limitless” third-party applications to access PeopleNet's g3 system and to allow g3 to access data from those applications, all at the discretion of the user.
According to PeopleNet, the first three integrated applications will be available later this year and in early 2007. They include a collision avoidance system integration, remote vehicle management and disablement system integration, and tethered trailer tracking system integration.
To help make the use of g3 as friendly as it is open, PeopleNet has also announced a new 7-in. high-resolution, tethered Enhanced Driver display that will run on the Windows CE.Net platform. The new color display will also be available starting in 2007. It features a backlit keyboard and touch-screen capability, plus full audio and video, making it suitable for training and entertainment as well as work applications. New-generation handheld devices from Intermec Technologies and Symbol Technologies with color graphical displays, will also be available. www.peoplenetonline.com
