Vusion offers MPG analytics dashboard

March 25, 2014

Grapevine, TX. PeopleNet division Vusion launched an MPG analytics dashboard that integrates and interprets fuel economy-related data from multiple sources to help fleet operators identify areas for improvement and make equipment buying and purchase decisions. The company announced the dashboard March 24 at the Truckload Carriers Assn. annual meeting in Grapevine, TX, just outside Dallas.

The MPG analytics dashboard includes data from the engine control module (over-speed, over-RPM, idle time, excess-speed), GPS (temperature, topography), dispatch (load weight), vehicle profile (vehicle age, engine size, make and model); and actual fuel purchases. Visual comparisons make it easy to see a true picture of each vehicle, engine and driver, and how each performance factor directly affects fuel economy, Vusion says.

Fleets can customize configurations for its heat map (red and yellow alerts), asset groups and time frames (day ranges). The dashboard displays behaviors specific to each driver and peer referencing as a context for coaching.

The dashboard “ensures that fleets are taking full advantage of their technology investment, and not missing insights by relying on isolated data sources,” said Vusion President Tom Fansler.

Although Vusion is a division of PeopleNet, the MPG analytics dashboard works with any telematics system that provides the necessary data.

Florilli Transportation, a 220-truck fleet based in West Liberty, Iowa, has been using the dashboard with its PeopleNet system.

“Using Vusion’s MPG analytics dashboard, we are just a couple clicks away from the MPG data that previously took us hours or sometimes days to compile,” said Murray Fitzer, CEO of the fleet.
