Trimble has acquired privately held PocketMobile headquartered in Stockholm, Sweden. PocketMobile provides enterprise mobile workforce solutions for international customers in postal service and logistics, security and field service.According to Trimble, the acquisition accelerates the company’s development in the high-growth field-to-office mobility market. Financial terms were not disclosed. PocketMobile's PreCom platform is a scalable, enterprise mobility platform for companies with a large mobile work force. These customers often have complex and business critical processes, with information-heavy and time critical requirements, and multiple backend systems, the company explained. The PreCom platform provides functionality templates and tools that enable system integrators or the customer to efficiently build, configure and maintain mobile solutions, tailored to their workflows. PocketMobile's partner network includes more than 150 certified developers and system integrators, the company said. The PreCom platform is used in more than 25 countries."Field-to-office mobility has become one of the most strategically important components of an organization's operational structure with a mobile workforce," said John Cameron, general manager of Trimble's field service management division. "Trimble's focus is to transform the workplace of the future by providing mobility tools to businesses to drive agility, efficiency and insight across the organizations' operations.
