With VERT, Dispatch Wrecker Service aims to tackle the issues of trust and transparency that have plagued the towing industry for years.

Dispatch Wrecker Service, a provider of heavy-duty towing and roadside assistance, recently introduced VERT, a software solution that promises to redefine how the towing industry operates.

With VERT, Dispatch Wrecker Service aims to tackle the trust and transparency issues that have plagued the towing industry for years. The software enables clients to monitor their vehicles in real time, from dispatch to service completion. By offering a level of transparency that was not possible before, VERT fosters trust, streamlines communication, and improves the customer experience.

"VERT represents a huge leap forward for our organization," said Trent Dennington, president of Dispatch Wrecker Service. "VERT reflects our commitment to transparency and putting the customer first. One of our mottos is to handle every request as if it were our own mom stuck on the side of the road."

Beyond improving communication, VERT also enhances operational efficiency. The software minimizes wait periods, accelerates dispatch operations, and simplifies billing and invoicing. As a result, both customers and service providers enjoy swifter, more reliable service and faster payments.

Why is there mistrust between towing companies and the trucking industry?

While a tow truck can be a welcome sight for truck drivers after their trucks break down, sometimes, that tow truck comes with predatory practices, such as unwanted services and surprise fees.

In late 2023, the American Transportation Research Institute released the results of an investigation into predatory towing and how it affects the trucking industry.

“Predatory towing is a costly issue for motor carriers as well as compliant towing companies, and it has been overlooked for too long,” Shawn R. Brown, Cargo Transporters VP of safety, said in an ATRI press release. “With reliable data analysis and a thorough regulatory review, ATRI’s report sheds light on the sources of the problem and paths forward for addressing it by regulators and trucking fleets.”

The report includes findings such as types of predatory practices identified through the survey; identification and analysis of predatory practices in billing; and ways fleets and motor carriers can protect themselves.
