Pedigree Technologies unveils AI tool to minimize fleet downtime

Pedigree Technologies uses AI to reduce fleet downtime

March 20, 2025
PredictiveView, a new artificial intelligence tool that ties into vehicle telematics, can help fleets discover potential equipment problems before fault codes appear.

PHOENIX—Looking to harness the power of artificial intelligence to help fleets reduce downtime and save money on maintenance, telematics provider Pedigree Technologies released a new predictive maintenance tool during the Truckload Carriers Association’s annual conference.

PredictiveView uses AI to proactively detect and address vehicle problems before they grow into costly repairs, Rocco Marrari, Pedigree VP of sales, said during a Truckload 2025 press conference on March 17 at the Phoenix Convention Center.

“AI integration provides fleet managers with predictive insights and actionable data, enabling them to make informed decisions about maintenance before those issues arise,” Marrari said. “This reduces the guesswork out there. It enhances your strategic planning and allows for better resource allocation and scheduling based on precise maintenance needs.”

How Pedigree Technologies’ predictive maintenance tools work

PredictiveView continuously monitors vehicle health with AI algorithms to analyze historical and real-time vehicle data collected through ELD and telematics devices. The system identifies unusual patterns or problems from key vehicle components, such as engine, transmission, brakes, and battery, that could lead to breakdowns.

Marrari used the example of AI detecting irregular readings from the aftertreatment system and diesel particulate filter to anticipate failures before any fault codes are triggered. If a carrier knows “two weeks’ ahead of time that they’re going to have a failure, they can pull that truck off the road,” he explained.

Proactiveness like this can also be a retention tool. “If you can tell your driver to pull a truck off the road before a breakdown occurs, they’re not sitting there, they’re not waiting, they’re not upset. Because we all know if that truck’s not moving, if it’s not hauling anything, they’re not making money, and the carrier is not making money.”

Marrari said the AI-driven tool reduces driver disruptions and provides technicians with guided diagnostic insights that streamline repairs. It also helps fleets prioritize critical problems and schedule maintenance.
