SAN DIEGO – Geotab said it has surpassed 2 million subscribers and unveiled a new integration with video telematics firm Lytx.
The announcements were made on Jan. 14 as Geotab Connect 2020 conference got underway.
The integration with Lytx, available in the Geotab Marketplace, creates a seamless experience within a single interface, allowing fleet managers to browse video and data from DriveCam event recorders through the Geotab platform.
“With this integration, more customers will be able to use the power of both companies’ technologies to easily manage fleets and drivers through a single-user interface, enabling a stronger return on investment without the need to juggle several different platforms at once,” said Geotab CEO Neil Cawse.
Added Brandon Nixon, chairman and CEO of Lytx: “This integration… will help fleets take their safety, productivity and efficiency to new heights.”
Geotab’s telematics device is installed in more 2 million vehicles worldwide, while Lytx’s advanced insights are derived from more than 120 billion miles of collected driving data.
Lytx leverages machine vision, artificial intelligence and onboard sensors to collect information about what is going on inside and around the vehicle. Last week, Lytx Inc. and private equity firm Permira announced that a company backed by the Permira funds and co-investors have entered into a definitive agreement to acquire a majority stake in Lytx. The transaction valued Lytx in excess of $2.5 billion.
Meanwhile, Cawse said at the start of the conference that ABI Research has certified Geotab as “the world’s largest commercial telematics company.” Geotab launched its software-as-a-service solution in 2006, and passed the 1 million connected vehicles milestone in February 2018. The Toronto-based company serves public, private and government fleets of all sizes across the world.
