For fleet executives uncertain about what AI tools can do to improve operations, and which vendors to rely on, you don’t want to “sit and wait,” suggests Doug Schrier, VP of growth and special projects, McLeod Software, or “you'll be playing catch-up.” But you don’t have to make a huge bet on unknown technology or partners, either.
FleetOwner’s Kevin Jones sat down with Schrier for a few minutes following McLeod’s first-ever AI Conference, held in the company’s Birmingham, Alabama, headquarters conference center.
“You don't necessarily want to be on the cutting edge—you don't know the risks around the company that you're investing in,” Schrier added. “It’s time to start looking at what the use cases are within your fleet and to invest when the solutions are ready.
“The sooner you join, and understand how it will apply to your fleet, the better off you will be. You don't have to make large investments today.”
