Truckload carrier Gordon Trucking Inc has acquired trucking company Buske Lines Inc, headquartered in Edwardsville IL. In this transaction, Gordon Trucking obtains Buske Lines’ 150 power units and 375 refrigerated and dry-van trailers. Along with the assets, Gordon Trucking also acquires a 35,000-square-foot shop in Pontoon Beach IL. This expansion will create additional truck driving career opportunities for Gordon Trucking throughout the Midwest.
Founded in 1923, Buske Lines was founded in 1923 and serves customers throughout the Midwest and Southeast. Like Gordon Trucking, Buske has served many Fortune 500 companies and is an Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) SmartWay Transport Partner.
The Pontoon Beach facility will serve as Gordon Trucking’s new maintenance, driver, and operating center, adding capacity to its Midwest business already operating in Indianapolis IN and Green Bay WI.
“We are excited to add an established company with deep roots in the Midwest to our team,” said Steve Gordon, chief operating officer. “We see the additional personnel, equipment, and maintenance capacity as a key expansion for our Midwest operations.”
With more than 2,500 employees and 1,900 power units, Gordon Trucking provides local, regional, and transcontinental truckload services within the United States and to and from Canada, including temperature-controlled and regional heavy-haul service.
The firm was founded by Jay Gordon as Gordon Fast Freight in 1946 with only two trucks. He started out hauling beer from Vancouver WA to Tacoma WA for his first client, the Lucky Lager Brewery. In 1984, he sold the company to his son Larry and his wife Virginia. Gordon Trucking is currently owned by Larry and Virginia Gordon and their sons, Steve and Scott Gordon.
