International Truck and Engine Corp. has announced it will unveil the newest truck model in its PayStar line-- the International PayStar 5900iSet-Back Axle (SBA)-- at the ConExpo-Con/Agg trade show in March 2008. The new PayStaris a Class 8 vocational on/off-road vehicle with custom factory options. It is available for ordering now through International’s dealer network.

It is especially suited to vocational applications, such as construction, oilfield, logging, heavy-hauling and mining. The new model is powered by a Caterpillar or Cummins diesel engine and is available with horsepower ratings up to 625 hp.

Built on a standard 12.25-inch frame rail, the SBA PayStar chassis sports a lightweight aluminum cab with an aggressively sloped hood. Other features include a redesigned front grille for bolder styling and improved cooling; outside air cleaners for improved air intake and reduced service intervals; standard wide-track axles for increased maneuverability (available later); standard dual power steering gears that require less steering effort (for front axles 14,600 lb. and higher) standard “Whisper Cab” sound insulation package; plus a new heavy-duty front bumper with tow pin (to haul more than 80,000 lbs.) or tow hooks (to haul less than 80,000 lbs.).

“Bringing the International PayStar 5900i SBA to market is a signal to customers that International is committed to providing them with trucks suited to their unique vocational requirements,” said Phil Christman, vp & gm of International’s Severe Service Vehicle Center. “PayStar vehicles have proven to be reliable, durable trucks over the past several decades and this tough, new heavy-duty, high-horsepower truck will extend its legacy.”
