Robert Bosch Corp. has introduced a high-output alternator designed specifically for refrigeration trucks. Model AL929N runs at 90 amps, and offers higher output at lower speeds, according to the manufacturer.
The unit's increased output provides the additional power necessary to handle accessories such as automatic liftgates, as well as “accommodate the demands of 24/7 operations,” says Bosch.
Looking just like the company's earlier OE alternators, the new unit is a direct fit replacement for three Bosch OE parts: the 23-amp 9-120-060-028; the 37-amp 9-120-060-027 (AL927X) and 0-120-488-297; and the 65-amp 9-120-060-023 (AL929X) and 0-120-488-286.
According to Fred Padgett, sr. product technical support manager, “Cut speed for the new alternators is 1250 rpm.” Other specs include heavy-duty, high-tolerance bearings, a sealed brush box, Zener diode rectifer plates and a single mounting foot. www.boschusa.com.
