IPA releases new tool to compare dual-mated tires

March 28, 2013

IPA has introduced a new tire comparator (Type II), which it said provides for the easy and accurate measuring of dual-mated tires.

The new tire comparator compares tire diameter and can find even minute discrepancies in tire pairing, the company said.

A sliding tolerance gauge requires no measuring, guessing, or even visual inspection, IPA said. Instead, the user simply holds it against the tire and slides it across the treads for a quick pass/fail result every time.

According to IPA, the tool can help fleets extend tread life, reduce blowouts, and improve fuel mileage.

It can be used on any dual-mated tires and a special tread wear adapter gauges are available for any rim size.
