NHTSA’s latest safety notices feature missing camera displays, inoperative trailer lighting, and more.

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration recently issued recall notices for commercial vehicles, including brands from General Motors and more.

Owners of the affected vehicles should be contacted via U.S. mail over the next two months, but fleet and independent owners of these vehicles can contact the NHTSA Safety Hotline at 888-327-4236 or visit nhtsa.gov for more details. More information on each recall can be found below.

Chevrolet/GMC Cutaway vans missing rear vision camera video display

General Motors is recalling certain 2024 Chevrolet Express Commercial Cutaway and GMC Savana Commercial Cutaway vehicles. These vehicles may be missing the required rear vision camera video display because an incorrect inside rearview mirror was installed. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard number 111, "Rear Visibility." A missing rear vision camera display reduces the driver's visibility behind the vehicle, increasing the risk of a crash.

This recall potentially affects 582 vehicles. Dealers will inspect and replace the inside rearview mirror as necessary. Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed December 30. Owners may contact GM customer service at 888-988-7267 and Chevrolet at 800-222-1020. GM's number for this recall is N242481860.

Jeep Wrangler inoperative trailer lighting

Chrysler is recalling certain 2024 Jeep Wrangler vehicles. The incorrect dash wiring harness was installed, which can result in inoperative trailer lighting. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard number 108, "Lamps, Reflective Devices, and Associated Equipment." Trailer lights that fail to illuminate can reduce the vehicle's visibility to other drivers, increasing the risk of a crash.

This recall potentially affects 34 vehicles. Dealers will inspect and replace the dash wiring harness as necessary. Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed January 7, 2025. Owners may contact FCA customer service at 800-853-1403. FCA's number for this recall is B9B.

Jeep Grand Cherokee incorrect vehicle speed displayed

Chrysler is recalling certain 2024 Jeep Grand Cherokee and Grand Cherokee L vehicles. A software error in the instrument panel cluster may cause the speedometer to display the incorrect vehicle speed. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard number 101, "Displays and Controls." Driving without knowing the vehicle's actual speed increases the risk of a crash.

This recall potentially affects 7,198 vehicles. Dealers will inspect and update the instrument panel cluster software as necessary. Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed December 17. Owners may contact FCA customer service at 800-853-1403. FCA's number for this recall is B8B.
