Reading Truck Body showcases lightweight Isuzu NPR Eco-Max body

March 6, 2015

INDIANAPOLIS. Reading Truck Body showcased several of its work truck body solutions this week at the Work Truck Show in its two-floor booth display. The company also unveiled a new body for the Isuzu NPR Eco-Max.

The Tool-Pro body is designed especially for the Eco-Max. It comes with all the standard features of a Reading premium aluminum body including reinforced understructure, hidden hinge technology, rear access doors, Dual-Pro door seals, galvanized shelving, LED lighting and nitrogen strut door and Reading’s exclusive E-Coat primer and powder coat finish.

The body is 50% lighter than comparable steel bodies, Reading said, resulting in a fuel savings of up to 10%.

“The market is asking for durable solutions that maximize both driver productivity and fuel efficiency, all while offering the best return on investment,” said Craig Bonham, vice president of business development at Reading Truck Body. “The Tool-Pro body paired with the Isuzu NPR ECO-MAX provides exactly that. It’s been a great experience working with the Isuzu team, and we look forward to a successful partnership.”

The NPR Eco-Max with Tool-Pro body will initially be available exclusively through Isuzu authorized dealers for an introductory period. Shortly after, the Tool-Pro will also be available from any authorized Reading Truck Body distributor.

“All of us here at Isuzu Commercial Truck are extremely excited to have this opportunity to work with Reading Truck Body to offer contractors and similar vocations a lightweight, durable, aluminum body to maximize the productivity at the job site,” said Shaun Skinner, executive vice president and general manager of Isuzu Commercial Truck of America, Inc. “This body, in conjunction with the durable 4J Isuzu diesel engine, offers a B-10 rating of 310,000 mi., meaning that the NPR Eco-Max will continue its time-proven performance for years to come.”

“As one of the most important trade shows for our industry, we always have a lot to say at The Work Truck Show,” said Brian Nadel, president and CEO of Reading. “Once again, we have raised the bar by bringing innovative solutions to the industry. This year in particular, we are excited to hear reactions from those who visit our booth. Our new introductions are both diverse and comprehensive. Yet, they share a common thread of thoughtful design meant to encourage the best experiences for our customers.”

Among the bodies on display were:

  • Classic II service body. The red aluminum body on display showed the newly introduced C2-60S options package. The package includes some of Reading’s most popular features, including Latch-Matic SmartShield remote keyless locking system with hands-free key fob and audible alarm capabilities, bright finish aluminum diamond-pressed pattern wear guards, Extend-A-Shelf  modular drawer units and LED lighting.
  • SL132 service body. Reading’s SL service body line now includes the SL132. A larger body, the SL132 comes in a dual wheel configuration and is standard with Dual-Pro door seals, an Aluma-Fill fuel cup, stainless steel rotary locks and a slam-action tailgate. Every SL service truck body is coated with Reading’s exclusive E-coat primer and powder coat finish process for rust and corrosion resistance.
  • Redi-DekTM gooseneck. The Redi-Dek premium heavy-duty steel platform body is a pickup bed replacement that can be customized to meet customers’ needs. It has been redesigned, featuring a new bulkhead for improved visibility, a new gooseneck hitch mounted to the chassis with a user-friendly lift and slide door, and angled rear corners for improved trailer maneuverability.
  • Concept Classic Service Van (CSV) with roll doors. The aluminum CSV features Dual-Pro door seals, stainless steel paddle locks and patented hidden hinges to protect cargo. New to the CSV are concepts such as roll-up doors on the curb and street-side front compartments as well as full-size roll-doors at the rear cargo access.
