Ford Maverick models’ loss of power from undetected low battery

Ford Motor Company is recalling certain 2022 Maverick vehicles previously repaired under recall number 24V-267. The body and powertrain control modules may fail to detect a change in the 12-volt battery state of charge. An undetected low battery charge can result in a loss of electrical accessories such as hazard lights, or cause a loss of drive power, increasing the risk of a crash.

This recall potentially affects 757 vehicles. Dealers will recalibrate the body control module and powertrain control module. Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed August 26. Owners may contact Ford customer service at 866-436-7332. Ford's number for this recall is 24S50.

Ford Maverick models’ windshield wiper motors may fail

Ford is recalling certain 2023-2024 Maverick and 2023 Bronco Sport vehicles. The front windshield wiper motor may become inoperative, causing the wipers to fail. Inoperative windshield wipers can reduce visibility in certain conditions, increasing the risk of a crash.

This recall potentially affects 37,371 vehicles. Dealers will inspect and replace the windshield wiper motor as necessary. Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed August 26. Owners may contact Ford customer service at 866-436-7332. Ford's number for this recall is 24S51.

Ford Ranger models’ power windows may pinch

Ford is recalling certain 2024 Ranger vehicles. When closing the windows with the global closing feature, the windows may not automatically reverse after detecting an object. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard number 118, "Power-Operated Window Systems." A closing window may exert excessive force by pinching a driver or passenger before retracting, increasing the risk of injury.

This recall potentially affects 70,483 vehicles. Dealers will update the driver door module and the passenger door module software. Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed September 23. Owners may contact Ford customer service at 866-436-7332. Ford's number for this recall is 24C24.

Ford Transit models’ steering columns assembled incorrectly

Ford is recalling certain 2023-2024 Transit vehicles. The steering column intermediate shaft may have been secured to the steering gear pinion shaft with an incorrect bolt, which can result in the separation of steering components and cause a loss of steering control. A loss of steering control can increase the risk of a crash.

This recall potentially affects 1,902 vehicles. Dealers will replace the steering column intermediate shaft bolt. Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed September 9. Owners may contact Ford customer service at 866-436-7332. Ford's number for this recall is 24S48.

Motiv models’ HV batteries may shut down

Motiv Power Systems is recalling certain 2021-2024 E-450, 2019-2023 F-59, and 2019-2020 F-53 vehicles equipped with a Motiv Gen 5 EPIC powertrain. The vehicle control software could misclassify a loss of isolation between the chassis and high-voltage system, shutting down the high-voltage batteries. The shutdown of the HV batteries can cause a loss of power steering, brake power assist, and drive power, increasing the risk of a crash.

This recall potentially affects 200 vehicles. Motiv will release an over-the-air software update. Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed August 30. Owners may contact Motiv customer service at 650-458-4804.

Motiv models’ wire damage

Motiv Power Systems is recalling certain 2021-2024 E-450 vehicles equipped with a Motiv Gen 5 EPIC powertrain. The controller area network signal wires could contact the frame rail and become damaged, causing a loss of drive power. A loss of drive power increases the risk of a crash.

This recall potentially affects 78 vehicles. Motiv field support technicians will inspect and repair any loose wiring, and replace damaged CAN wiring as necessary. Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed in August. Owners may contact Motiv customer service at 650-458-4804.
