The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration recently issued recall notices for commercial vehicles, including brands from Mack, VTNA, and more.

Owners of the affected vehicles should be contacted via U.S. mail over the next two months, but fleet and independent owners of these vehicles can contact the NHTSA Safety Hotline at 888-327-4236 or visit nhtsa.gov for more details. More information on each recall can be found below.

Ford F-Series models’ rearview camera image may not display

Ford Motor Company is recalling certain 2023-2024 F-250, F-350, and F-450 vehicles. Water may enter the Tailgate Park Assist Sensor Interface Module and cause the rearview camera image to display intermittently or appear blue or black. A rearview camera image that does not display can decrease the driver's visibility, increasing the risk of injury or crash.

This recall potentially affects 24,950 vehicles. Dealers will replace the tailgate top camera, wire harness, and TPASIM module and update the Image Processing Module A software. Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed Dec. 9. Owners may contact Ford customer service at 866-436-7332. Ford's number for this recall is 24S66.

Ford Transit models’ rear wheel may lock up or separate from axle

Ford is recalling certain 2023-2024 Ford Transit vehicles previously repaired under recall number 24V-102. Incorrect bolts may have been used to attach the rear axle shaft, which can lead to the rear wheel locking up or separating from the axle. Rear wheel lock-up or separation of the wheel from the axle shaft can result in loss of vehicle control or loss of drive power. In addition, the vehicle may roll in park if the parking brake is not applied. Any of these scenarios can increase the risk of a crash.

This recall potentially affects 808 vehicles. Dealers will inspect the rear axle shaft bolts, replace incorrect bolts as necessary, and fill the differential fluid if needed. Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed Dec. 9. Owners may contact Ford customer service at 866-436-7332. Ford's number for this recall is 24S67.

Mack models’ ECU malfunction may impact safety systems

Mack Trucks is recalling certain 2020-2025 Anthem, Granite, TerraPro, and Pinnacle vehicles, equipped with Bendix EC80 Advanced Electronic Control Units. Electrical noise and low signal to the power line carrier may cause the ECU to incorrectly process commands or stop working. Safety systems that depend on the ECU may have diminished or lost functionality, increasing the risk of a crash.

This recall potentially affects 60,450 vehicles. Dealers will reprogram the ECU software. Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed Dec. 13. Owners may contact Mack customer service at 800-866-1177. Mack's number for this recall is SC0472.

Orange EV models’ incorrect high voltage system lockout instructions

Orange EV is recalling certain 2017-2024 T-Series and 2023-2024 e-TRIEVER terminal trucks. The Emergency Response Guide, operator, maintenance, and service manuals incorrectly state that the emergency stop button in the vehicle cab will shut off and lock out the high voltage system. Incorrect lockout instructions can mislead the operator into thinking the high voltage system is shut down, increasing the risk of injury by electrical shock.

This recall potentially affects 1,334 vehicles. OEV will provide corrected ERG, operator, and maintenance manuals and add additional warning labels. Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed Dec. 20. Owners may contact OEV customer service at 866-688-5223. OEV's number for this recall is 2024-SRC-01.

VTNA models’ ECU malfunction may impact safety systems

Volvo Trucks North America is recalling certain 2020-2025 VN, VAH, VHD, and VNRE trucks, equipped with Bendix EC80 Advanced Electronic Control Units. Electrical noise and low signal to the power line carrier may cause the ECU to incorrectly process commands or stop working. Safety systems that depend on the ECU may have diminished or lost functionality, increasing the risk of a crash.

This recall potentially affects 126,649 vehicles. Dealers will reprogram the ECU software. Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed Dec. 13. Owners may contact Volvo Trucks customer service at 800-528-6586. Volvo Truck's number for this recall is RVXX2409.

VTNA models’ ABS warning light may not illuminate

Volvo Trucks is recalling one 2025 New VN truck. A software error in the instrument cluster may cause the anti-lock brake system warning light not to illuminate. As such, this vehicle fails to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard number 121, "Air Brake Systems." An ABS warning light that fails to illuminate will not alert the driver of an ABS malfunction, which could increase the risk of a crash.

This recall potentially affects one vehicle. A dealer will reprogram the software. Owners may contact Volvo Customer Service at 800-528-6586. Volvo's number for this recall is RVXX2410.
