Feb. 13, 2025
NHTSA’s latest safety notices feature stalling engines, loss of drive power, and more.

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration recently issued recall notices for commercial vehicles, including brands from Ford, Volvo, Autocar, and more.

Owners of the affected vehicles should be contacted via U.S. mail over the next two months, but fleet and independent owners of these vehicles can contact the NHTSA Safety Hotline at 888-327-4236 or visit nhtsa.gov for more details. More information on each recall can be found below.

Autocar Xpeditor models’ forward collision sensing radar may fail

Autocar is recalling certain 2024-2025 ACX (Xpeditor) vehicles. A software error may cause the forward collision sensing radar to fail. An inoperative radar increases the risk of a crash.

This recall potentially affects two vehicles. Dealers will update the radar software. Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed March 27. Owners may contact Autocar customer service at 888-218-3611. Autocar's number for this recall is ACX-2501.

Autocar E-ACCT models’ engine stall and rollaway risk

Autocar is recalling certain 2023-2025 E-ACTT vehicles. A software error may allow the vehicle to roll away while on an incline and cause an engine stall. A vehicle rollaway and an engine stall increase the risk of a crash.

This recall potentially affects 130 vehicles. Dealers will update the vehicle software. Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed March 27. Owners may contact Autocar customer service at 888-218-3611. Autocar's number for this recall is ACTT-2501.

Ford models’ rearview camera image may not display

Ford Motor Company is recalling certain 2021 Expedition; 2021-2022 Super Duty F-250, F-350, F-450, F-550, F-600; and 2020-2022 Lincoln Corsair vehicles. The rearview camera may display a blank or distorted image. Rearview camera failure can reduce the driver's view of what is behind the vehicle, increasing the risk of a crash.

This recall potentially affects 72,624 vehicles. The remedy is currently under development. Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed February 17. Owners may contact Ford customer service at 866-436-7332. Ford's number for this recall is 25S05.

Freightliner eCascadia & eM2 models’ loss of drive power

Daimler Truck North America is recalling certain 2020-2025 Freightliner eCascadia and 2022-2026 Freightliner eM2 trucks. The electric vehicle power distribution module may not be assembled properly, which can cause electrical circuits to disconnect and result in a loss of drive power. A loss of drive power increases the risk of a crash.

This recall potentially affects 810 vehicles. The remedy is currently under development. Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed March 31. Owners may contact DTNA customer service at 800-547-0712. DTNA's number for this recall is F1017.

Hino models’ front right air brake tube can be damaged and leak

Hino Motors is recalling certain 2022-2025 NH7A, NJ7A, NJ7B, NJ7C, NV7A, NV7B, and NV7C trucks. Contact with the fender can damage the front right brake tube and cause a leak. A leaking brake tube can delay the front brake actuation time, extending the distance required to stop and increasing the risk of a crash.

This recall potentially affects 19,026 vehicles. Dealers will inspect, secure, or replace the air tube as necessary. Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed April 7. Owners may contact Hino customer service at 248-699-9390. Hino's number for this recall is AB2Q0.

The exterior lighting switch may fail, resulting in the hazard lights and the instrument display back-light brightness adjustment not functioning. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard numbers 101, "Control and Displays," and 108, "Lamps, Reflective Devices and Associated Equipment." Inoperative hazard lights cannot alert other drivers as intended. In addition, the inability to adjust the brightness on the instrument panel display can make it difficult to see critical safety information or distract the driver. Both scenarios can increase the risk of a crash.

This recall potentially affects 5,378 vehicles. Dealers will update the vehicle cab controller unit software. Owners are advised that a non-responsive switch can be temporarily reset by a key cycle. Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed March 30. Owners may contact Kenworth's customer service at 425-828-5888 and Peterbilt's customer service at 940-591-4220. Paccar’s numbers for this recall are 25KWB and 25PBB.

Volvo VNR Electric models’ batteries may short-circuit

Volvo Trucks North America is recalling certain 2023-2025 VNR Electric trucks. The high-voltage battery may contain loose hardware, which can create a short circuit inside the battery cells. A high-voltage battery that short-circuits increases the risk of a fire.

This recall potentially affects 13 vehicles. Dealers will replace the batteries. Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed April 6. Owners may contact Volvo Trucks' customer service at 800-528-6586. Volvo Trucks' number for this recall is RVXX2501.
