According to the company, the RDG 200 Ringtread is a closed shoulder drive tread that uses Marangoni’s Extreme Performance compounding for extreme mileage.
Marangoni Tread North America (Marangoni) revealed that an RDG 200 Ringtread Drive retread has reached a milestone in retread performance being driven over 500,000 miles. The RDG 200 Ringtread is a closed shoulder drive tread that uses Marangoni’s Extreme Performance compounding for extreme mileage. The RDG 200 is 27/32nds at original tread depth.
“The RDG 200 offers fleets a high-performance drive tread that delivers extended mileage at lower costs per mile,” said Clif Armstrong, president of Marangoni. “The 500,347-mile performance for Douglas Simons is a testament not only to the premium Ringtread System of spliceless retread performance, but also how fleets can get the best service out of their tires at the lowest cost of ownership. Douglas Simons chose to run quality casings with premium retreads and worked to maintain air pressure and alignment. This is a model for all fleets to follow.”
Douglas Simons Trucking – based in Stewart, Tenn. – placed the retreads in service on Dec. 8, 2015, and were removed from service in July 2020 and were driven a total of 500,347 miles. The casings were LP22.5 Pirelli FH-01, and were retreaded by Wilson County Tire in Lebanon, Tenn.
“I knew the RDG 200 from Marangoni was a strong performer and had very good traction in all weather conditions,” said Doug Simons, owner of Douglas Simons Trucking. “I was amazed by the mileage we were experiencing. Each time we took our measurements, the expected mileage kept increasing. This Ringtread works.”
