Switching fleet vehicles to an engine oil with a lower viscosity and cold temperature pour point is one method for protecting engines and preserving fuel economy.
A side-to-side comparison between full synthetic oils and conventional oils operating in fleet vehicles proves higher performance of full synthetic oils in cold temperatures. Full synthetic oils, such as Cenex Maxtron Enviro EDGE, resulted in less gelling and better lubrication at negative 25 degrees Fahrenheit than the conventional oils.
