The 2025 FleetOwner 500: For-Hire list ranks the largest motor carrier and commercial fleet operations in the U.S. by total registered power units. Released in February, the FO500 saw many ranking shifts after a busy 2024 of carrier acquisitions, mergers, consolidations, and expansions.
In addition to ranking the largest overall for-hire fleet operations, FleetOwner breaks down these companies into categories based on equipment, cargo types, and industry segments. This media gallery focuses on the fleets with the most trailers; upcoming FleetOwner top 10 lists will rank fleets by business categories such as agriculture, construction, bulk, and more.

This year's first five spots on the top 10 trailer list remained the same as last year. At No. 1 is FedEx with 148,600 trailers, a sizable increase from its total last year of 139,752. Following closely behind is J. B. Hunt Transport with 148,360 trailers. No. 3 is Knight-Swift Transportation Holdings with 93,295 trailers, a much bigger gap than between No. 1 and No. 2.
