Yokohama 714R regional pickup, delivery tire now available

According to the company, open shoulder drive tire to provide all-weather traction and longer tread life.

Yokohama Tire’s all-new 714R will deliver year-round. Engineered for urban pick-up/delivery applications, the open shoulder drive tire, which debuted at the TMC show in February, is now available in sizes 225/70R19.5 (14) and 245/70R19.5 (16).

“The 714R was engineered to deliver all-weather traction, significantly longer wear and outstanding fuel efficiency,” said Tom Clauer, Yokohama’s senior manager of commercial and OTR product planning. “Each are important characteristics our regional pickup and delivery customers need.”

Benefits of the 714R include:

  • Outstanding traction: Open shoulder grooves provide excellent traction in wet or snow conditions.
  • Long tread life: A newly designed wide tread pattern controls the ground contact pressure to deliver long, original tread life. Plus, tie-bar connectors control block movement to minimize heel/toe wear.
  • Durable construction: Funnel-shaped step grooves prevent stones and other debris from reaching the bottom of the groove where casing damage can occur.
  • Fuel-efficient operation: Yokohama’s advanced compound provides significantly lower rolling resistance for improved fuel efficiency.

Yokohama also made the all-season 115R tire available in size 225/70R19.5 (14). The tire first appeared at the 2020 TMC show, as well.

“The N-speed rated 115R is a tough, all-position tire built to provide class 4 and 5 vehicles with superior year-round traction and dependability to get the job done,” Clauer said. “It’s engineered with a heat-resistant compound for better fuel efficiency and longer lasting tread life.”

Benefits of the 115R include:

  • High-speed capabilities: Durable casing construction is rated for speeds up to 87 mph.
  • Longer tread life: Yokohama’s advanced heat-resistant tread compound increases tread life and optimizes fuel economy. Additionally, middle wing blocks and tie-bar connectors control block movement to resist wear and reduce rolling resistance.
  • All-season traction: Wide lateral grooves provide increased traction on wet or snow-covered roads, while deep serpentine grooves maintain aggressive traction throughout the life of the original tread.
  • Sidewall protection: Durable construction helps defend against damage caused by curbing and scrubbing in typical urban operations.
