Jack Roush has established a new venture, Roush CleanTech, which will focus on liquid propane injection vehicles as well as other alternative fuel options. The new engineering company will allow for the expedited delivery of new products to the market.

Currently, Roush offers propane-injection systems for Ford F450, F-550, F-650, and F-53/F-59 stripped chassis vehicles powered by a 6.8-liter V10 propane engine.

“More than 14-million vehicles around the globe operate on propane, but in the United States that figure is fewer than 300,000,” said Todd Mouw, vp of sales & marketing. “Roush CleanTech’s existing lineup of liquid propane injection powered vehicles, including several models of Ford F-series pickups and E-series vans, and future product offerings will revolutionize the way people view alternatively-fueled modes of transportation.”

According to Joe Thompson, president of Roush CleanTech, propane burns cleaner than gas or diesel and produces up to 20% fewer nitrogen oxide emissions, as much as 60% less carbon monoxide, and 24% fewer greenhouse gas emissions.

“Already the third most widely used fuel,” Thompson said. “It is available right here, right now with a national infrastructure already in place. Propane plays a strong role in lowering our national dependence on imported oil, as 90% of the propane used today comes from domestic sources of production, and an additional 7% from Canada.”
