Designed for high performance and severe duty heavy truck applications, three Abex advanced friction material brake linings have been introduced by Federal-Mogul Corp.

A new semi-metallic combination block is a high-performance lining rated up to 23,000 lbs. under the FMVSS 121 brake standard. Engineered to provide superior stopping power across a wide range of temperatures, SM FF/6098 GG offers low swell and growth for improved lining life and drum compatibility in a wide range of applications, according to the manufacturer.

A severe duty lining, the new Abex FT GG is rated to 26,000 lbs. and is intended for fire trucks and other severe duty, high performance applications. Federal-Mogul says the flexural strength and elasticity of the new lining material helps avoid cracking in such applications.

With a rating of 20,000 lbs., the Abex SM FF lining is designed for vocational applications with severe duty cycles. The material is said to provide excellent fade resistance and recovery performance as well as improved flexural strength in such cycles.
