Kenworth Truck Co. is helping computer software giant Microsoft Corp. bring its Microsoft Mobile Experience Tour, which offers an in-depth look at mobile computing, to 11 cities around the country by providing a T-2000 tractor to haul the specially designed tour trailer.

The tour’s centerpiece is a 45-foot rolling mobile theater, chock-full of the latest server, wireless and device technologies. The tour kicked off in early May at Microsoft’s headquarters in Redmond, WA, and has already made stops in San Jose, San Francisco, San Diego, Los Angeles and Dallas. Coming up on the two-month tour agenda are Atlanta, Chicago, Washington, Boston and New York.

The truck and trailer are being tracked along the way by Aether System’s MobileMAX2, a mobile communications device that combines land-based and satellite technology in one rugged shell.

The T-2000 used in the tour is leased from PacLease and is equipped with a 475 hp 3406E Caterpillar engine and 10-speed Eaton Fuller transmission.
