Aero Industries, Inc. has begun producing its tarping systems and trailer accessories from a newly constructed operations center in Indianapolis, IN. The over 140,00-sq-ft facility also serves as headquarters for the company, which has operations in three states, Canada and the United Kingdom.
"Our newer, larger, more technologically advanced manufacturing center is a strong sign that this industry is picking up again," said Jim Tuerk, CEO of Aero Industries. "Aero has long been recognized as a tarping leader and now we are planning for growth in the future."
Aero said the Indianapolis operations center streamlines the firm by bringing together manufacturing, administrative, and warehousing functions under one roof. Since 1944, when Paul Tuerk founded Aero Canvas Products, growth had forced the company to work from several different facilities. In 1993, the company began studying the feasibility of a single-site facility.
Despite the downturn in the trucking and manufacturing industries in recent years, Aero Industries reported it has grown, thanks to "a foundation of high-quality products and excellent people." The company said its flagship products, such as its Conestoga flatbed system, differentiates Aero Industries as innovators in an intensely competitive field. The from noted it owns more than 45 patents worldwide.
"A slower economy greatly affected the trucking industry and put a wrench in our construction plans several years ago," said Jim Tuerk. "It feels good to finally make this happen and see that we have emerged stronger than ever."
Construction began on Aero Industries headquarters and operations center in July 2004. Manufacturing operations moved into the facility in late December and administrative and executive staff moved in on January 21, 2005.
