The average diesel price in the U.S. stayed steady at $3.96 for the week of September 29, according to the Energy Information Administration. While the price is more than 30% higher than it was one year ago, it is still down $0.80 from the all-time high of $4.76 recorded on July 14th.
According to TheWall Street Journal, crude oil was trading at $98.92 per barrel today, a significant drop from the nearly $110 it was trading at last week.
The most expensive region for diesel fuel continues to be in New England, which is averaging $4.08 per gallon. The least expensive region is the Gulf Coast, which averages $3.93 per gallon, while the Midwest, Rocky Mountain and West Coast regions all average $3.94 per gallon.
