Mack Trucks has received an order for 46 Mack Vision Elite tractors with lowboy trailers and spare parts from the U.S. Army’s Tacom Life Cycle Management Command. The OEM also announced it also received an order from Tacom for a Mack Granite Elite tractor to be deployed in harsh on/off-highway operations.

The order for the Vision Elite tractors, to be equipped with 70-in. high-rise sleepers and paired with 35-ton lowboy trailers and spare parts, is part of a three-year, $28.5-million contract for 152 heavy-duty tractors and trailers. To date, Mack has delivered 80 Vision Elite tractors with 18 more scheduled for delivery this month. This current order is valued at $6.6 million.

The Vision Elite is the export version of the Mack Pinnacle axle-back vocational model. It is powered by a 360-hp Mack MP8 MaxiCruise 13-liter engine that produces 1,360 lbs.-ft. of torque and is mated with an Eaton-Fuller auto-0shift 10-sp. transmission.

“Mack is proud to supply the U.S. Army with tough and reliable trucks for the most demanding environments,” said Tom Kelly, Mack senior vp, product portfolio management. “Mack’s legacy of ‘Bulldog-tough’ military trucks meshes precisely with our leading-edge engineering, technology and comfort to meet the needs of today’s military.”
