A. Duie Pyle will hold a symposium on the dangers of transporting hazardous materials, including safeguards against terrorism, on April 23 from 8:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. on 650 Westtown Rd. in West Chester, PA.
According to A. Duie Pyle director of chemical markets and compliance Tom Walker, the symposium will include half-hour presentations by members of the F.B.I. Joint Terrorism Task Force; the U.S. Department of Transportation Hazardous Materials Compliance division; the Port Authority of New York, and the American Chemistry Council, as well as A. Duie Pyle’s safety director.
“We wanted to start a dialogue between federal and state agencies, aimed at small and medium-sized hazardous material carriers,” Walker told FleetOwner. “It’s a good idea to get our customers in front of these experts. We all need to be vigilant and on our toes.”
Some of the issues that will be discussed include terrorist threats and scenarios, current regulations, procedures for safe and secure transportation, tips for dealing with strange and questionable transactions and how to contact federal agencies if necessary.
