Stemco announced it has introduced its SuperSpare semi-truck spare tire mount.SuperSpare is designed to be mounted on the tractor to simplify tire-related roadside maintenance, according to the company. “Installing SuperSpare technology also makes the adoption of fuel-saving ‘super single’ tires more practical,” the company added.Although “super single” tires add over 3% in fuel savings through decreased road resistance, they require immediate replacement when damaged, the company explained. “Having an easily accessible and replaceable spare mounted on the tractor is therefore vital to a safe and efficient use of ‘super single’ tires,” Stemco added.“Every minute of unexpected downtime costs both fleets and driver’s valuable time and money,” said Royal Jones, President of Mesilla Valley Transportation. “Fleets that choose to install SuperSpare can rest assured that their trucks can be easily and quickly repaired on the side of the road, even if they are operating with ‘super single’ tires.”SuperSpare can be installed on tractors with at least 43” of available frame rail space, and is compatible with both “super single” and regular truck tires.
