The Holland Group Inc now provides SMARTSystem Electronic Lock Indicator (ELI) system as an option on new Holland 3500 Series fifthwheels (FW33 and FW35 models). This patented system improves coupling reliability and minimizes potential equipment damage by electronically monitoring the coupling process for the driver from inside the cab. It verifies the kingpin locking sequence and transfers the data to the driver in real time through an icon-based display in the dashboard or driver's side rear-view mirror.
Now, Holland is introducing two retrofit concepts to let any Holland fifthwheel user benefit from this technology.
One concept is to replace the complete top plate with a new top plate incorporating the ELI system. Along with the top plate, a dash-mounted display box, connecting cables, and instructions for installation, operating, and maintenance.
A second approach is to retrofit an existing 3500 Series top plate by adding the ELI system to the top plate. A kit is provided that includes a dash-mounted display box, sensor harness with mounting brackets, extension cable, hardware, and tools to locate and install ELI systems.
