Third-quarter Fleet Sentiment Report responses indicate that fleets are more likely to add capacity now with the purchase of additional trailers rather than increasing the number of power units in their operation. While 71% of the fleets polled are planning to purchase power units in the next six months, on average the number of those purchases designated as added capacity is estimated at 20%. More trailer purchases — on average 38% — are planned to add capacity to the fleets.

This questionnaire is distributed quarterly by CK Marketing & Communications to approximately 100 fleets operating a total of 117,000 medium- and heavy-duty power units and more than 140,000 trailers. Thirty-three for-hire, private, and government fleets participated in the 3Q statistics.
