Quebec, Canada-based duBreton of Riviere-du-Loup installed the QF+ In-Rack Freezing System from Tippmann Innovations recently.
As an exporter of pork to China, duBreton was challenged to meet Chinese export guidelines, requiring all pork products to be frozen at 5° F within a 48-hour time frame from the start of the freezing process. Its current blast-freezing methods achieved freeze times in 72 hours.
This past winter, Tippmann Innovation conducted a QF+ demo test at the duBreton facility. The test used data loggers that measured time and temperature with results of 5° F in 35.83 hours and –4° F in 48 hours. As a result of these findings, duBreton ordered 216 pallet positions of QF+. duBreton will implement the QF+ system upon completion of the accelerated installation.
The QF+ In-Rack Freezing System replaces traditional blast-freezing methods. Its innovative design pulls air through the product, delivering predictable and consistent freezing instead of blasting air around the pallet, a method that produces ineffective results. Additionally, QF+ can also reduce energy costs by up to as much as 50%.
Rob Adams, Tippmann Innovation partner, said, “We are proud to partner with duBreton as our first QF+ system installation in Canada. We appreciate the company’s founding values: respect for nature, respect for animals and, most important, respect for customers and consumers.”
Tippmann Innovation provides a full suite of cold storage construction services, including master site planning and operations guidance. The company has offices in Indiana, Illinois and Florida and operates internationally.
