GCCA expands global footprint with South African office

June 24, 2019
The Global Cold Chain Alliance (GCCA) recently opened its newest regional office in Cape Town, South Africa.

The Global Cold Chain Alliance (GCCA) recently opened its newest regional office in Cape Town, South Africa.

The organization says the new location enriches its worldwide efforts to strengthen and develop the global temperature-controlled supply chain.

“With 50% of GCCA’s members being from outside the United States, the key to our global growth has been the ability to serve members locally,” said Corey Rosenbusch, GCCA president and CEO. “Adding a (representative) on the African continent allows the association to deliver expertise and services in a very targeted manner.”

GCCA named Lizelle van der Berg is South African director. Van der Berg’s previous experience includes customer development and client services for logistics companies.

“I’m excited to be representing GCCA in South Africa, where cold chain capacity is growing and strengthening—initial market research showed over 200-plus cold storage companies operating in the region, and with strong GDP growth that number is bound to continue to grow,” van der Berg said.

Specifically, GCCA said it works throughout the region to strengthen the cold chain, and maintain product integrity and quality between rural areas and more populous cities. The alliance also has regional offices in Europe, Latin America and India, and an office in Brazil that opened in January 2018 in partnership with Associação Brasileira de Armazenagem Frigorificada (ABIAF).

“Already, in Brazil, we’ve had productive meetings with government representatives on behalf of the cold chain industry,” said Isabela Perazza, director of GCCA Brazil.
