A Swearing-In ceremony was held for the individuals selected to serve the TCA for the 2009-2010 term. Named as chairman was Kevin Burch, president of and a partner in Jet Express, Dayton, Ohio, since 1990. Active with the TCA and the American Trucking Associations (ATA) for almost 20 years, his 35 years of trucking experience includes less-than-truckload, truckload, air freight, and consolidation.

Burch has served as a TCA board member since 1996 and as an officer since 2004. He has also participated in and/or chaired numerous TCA committees and task forces, most notably the Recruitment & Retention and Membership committees.

For ATA, he was recently appointed chairman of the Labor and Regulatory Committee. He also serves on the Membership and Communication/Image committees.

Jet Express has 90 company drivers, 320 owner-operators, and 600 trailers. It handles more than 500 truckloads per day throughout the US, primarily for the just-in-time automotive industry.

During his year as TCA Chairman, Burch will dedicate much of his trucking passion and energy to helping carriers overcome the challenges of the current volatile business climate. He has set two main goals: to promote the trucking industry, and to help carriers gain the knowledge they need to succeed during tough economic times.

Elected to assist Burch as officers until the next annual TCA convention were:

  • First vice chairman: John Kaburick, president, Earl L Henderson Trucking, Salem, Illinois.

  • Second vice chairman: Gary Salisbury, president and CEO, Fikes Truck Line, Hope, Arkansas.

  • Secretary: Robert E Low, president and founder, Prime, Springfield, Missouri.

  • Treasurer: Tom Kretsinger Jr, president and COO, American Central Transport, Liberty, Missouri.

  • Association vice president to ATA: Lance Craig, CEO and president, Craig Transportation, Perrysburg, Ohio.

  • Immediate past chairman: Ray Haight, executive director, MacKinnon Transport, Guelph, Ontario, Canada.

  • At-large officers: Shepard Dunn, president and CEO, Bestway Express, Vincennes, Indiana; Russell Stubbs, senior vice president and COO, FFE Transportation Services, Dallas, Texas; Keith Tuttle, president, Motor Carrier Service, Northwood, Ohio; and Tom Witt, president, Arrow Trucking, Tulsa, Oklahoma.
