Global Standards accredited as certification body for FSMA
The US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) recently recognized an additional certification body that has been accredited under its Accredited Third-Party Certification Program.
The American National Standards Institute accredited Global Standards SC for the following scopes: Produce Safety, Preventive Controls for Human Food, Juice Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Point, and Seafood HACCP.
This accreditation gives Global Standards the authority to conduct food safety audits and issue food and facility certifications under FDA’s Accredited Third-Party Certification Program, established in accordance with the FDA Food Safety Modernization Act.
Certifications issued through this program can be used by importers to establish eligibility for participation in the Voluntary Qualified Importer Program, which offers expedited review of food entering the US. In some cases, this certification may be required by the FDA for foods offered for import to the US.
To date, eight certification bodies have been accredited under the third-party program.
